BOTOX COSMETIC / DYSPORT

Botox Cosmetic/Dysport has been used for over 30 years to reduce the appearance of wrinkles caused by overactive facial muscles.  Botox Cosmetic/Dysport is not a filler like Juvederm or Restylane.  Rather, it works by relaxing the muscles involved in certain dynamic wrinkles or expression lines.  The FDA has approved its cosmetic use for the glabellar region (between the eyebrows/frown lines) and crow’s feet (lateral to the eyes).  “Bunny lines” (side of the nose) and the horizontal lines of the forehead are also frequently treated.  Results typically last up to 4-6 months initially, but potentially longer if treatment is continued.

* Prices are calculated per unit of Botox/Dysport used.  Some people will require more Botox/Dysport to achieve desirable results.

CHEMICAL PEELS

Chemical Peels have been used for decades to exfoliate the top layers of skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating the production of collagen and new cell growth. Chemical peels can also be used to reduce the appearance of age spots and melasma (mask of pregnancy), acne, acne scarring, and sun damaged skin, including pre-skin cancers. For best results, superficial peels should be performed every 3-4 weeks. Adequate sun protection and ongoing skin care with one of our skin rejuvenation lines, such as Replenix, Obagi and Kinerase, maximize peel results and help maintain results for as long as possible. Superficial peels typically have no down time. Deeper peels can require 4-5 days down/recovery time.

SCLEROTHERAPY

Sclerotherapy, developed more than 75 years ago, remains the treatment of choice for most spider veins and some smaller varicose veins on the legs. The procedure involves the injection of a small quantity of liquid (sclerosing agent) into the vein through a tiny needle. The sclerosing agent displaces blood from the vessel causing irritation and damage to the wall of the vessel. The inside of the vessel becomes scarred and it ultimately absorbed by the body.

Using Asclera,  a detergent sclerosing solution, is safer, more effective , and less painful than saline injections. It is also preferred by most experts in the field; ironically, it is not FDA approved! Treatments are scheduled 4-6 weeks apart with 2-3  treatment typically required to fully eliminate vessels. Compression using ace wraps or preferably compression stockings is needed for 4 days after sclerotherapy. Sun protection is important for one month after sclerotherapy.
